This project is different from the rest as it is not a hardcore dancehall or reggae riddim, but has a mixture of both, with added RnB flavouring.
The “Holding Strong” riddim has an Acoustic Guitar strum, along with a Grand Piano lick, an RnB drum pattern, and a bassline which glues the whole riddim together. It’s filled with emotion, passion, warmth and love.
Listening to the riddim alone, it sounds like a reflection of life in the ghetto. The injustices people face, keeping the faith, believing that things will get better and having love for each other - summed up in two words - “Holding Strong”.
We played it over and over in the studio, and the riddim was screaming out for some vocals to take it to the next level. We decided to reach out t
o some female artists we knew would add that finishing touch to the project. Our goal was to showcase female artists alone on this riddim to highlight their talent in an industry that is dominated by male singers and deejay’s.
We linked Kym Hamilton, from Kingston, Jamaica, Aisha Davis a.k.a (The Island Diva) also from Kingston, Jamaica, Tinile from NewYork, America and Charmaine X from Birmingham in the UK.
Kym Hamilton’s ‘Another Day’ is about giving thanks for life and explains that some people don't have anything but still have a smile on their face. Aisha Davis’s ‘No Other” is about finding a love that lasts a lifetime. Tinile’s ‘So This Is Love’ describes how it feels to be in love. And then we have Charmaine X’s ‘Keep On Moving’ which is about some of our great black Heroes & Sheroes who paved the way for us to keep on going no matter what life throws our way.
All four female artists have hit the nail on the head. Each song is unique, relatable, catchy and has a positive message which is the direction we wanted to take this project in.
The “Holding Strong Riddim” is one not to be missed, so “tun up” your radio, car stereo, Alexa or Google home - press play and let each artist take you on a musical expedition
